Introduction

When it comes to paid survey sites or apps, Swagbucks is as prevalent as the internet itself and we’re not exaggerating. The site boasts of having more than 15 million members who have earned enough Swagbucks to cash out more than $380 million in free gift cards! The site is very reliable in its payouts and it’s rare to happen upon any shady offers on this site.

Registration

Signing up on Swagbucks is amazingly simple. You just need to enter your email address, confirm it via the confirmation email it sends to your email’s inbox and then you can start earning Swagbucks (SBs) by filing up your profile. There’s an optional “log in through Facebook” option that you can opt for if you like, but we usually don’t recommend it unless you plan on inviting your Facebook friends to join you on Swagbucks. After all, if you do plan on doing that, you can always link up your Facebook later on. There’s no rush.

Of course, another important point to note is that if you sign up using someone else’s referral link, you can get an instant $5 bonus when you take your first action, be it completing a survey or watching a video.

Earning Methods

Swagbucks implements a points-based system where each Swagbuck (SB) is equivalent to around 1 cent in real cash. So, 400 SBs translate to around $4 and 1000 SBs will net you around $10. When it comes to earning SBs, there are tons of ways you can earn SBs on this site aside from doing paid surveys.

For starters, you can purchase items from renowned retailers online like Amazon, Gap, Target and Walmart through Swagbucks, and get a cut from the commission that Swagbucks get. The cashbacks you can earn can reach up to a nice 4%, letting you save some cash on online purchases that you’re going to make anyway.

The same goes for buying coupons. Instead of purchasing them through Groupon directly, you can get them through Swagbucks and earn a little bit of cashback per coupon you buy. However, it goes without saying that if you really want to earn money, you should only buy stuff or coupons that you need.

Another somewhat passive way to earn some extra money through Swagbucks is using its special search engine. Since you’ll be searching for stuff on the internet anyway, why not use a search engine that pays you for your searches? Granted that not all searches you make will net you some cash, but even if you do get some money at the end of the day, it’s still all worth it. Users have reported that they can earn up to $15/month just by using SB’s search engine.

In this day and age, it’s pretty common to find yourself hooked on videos after videos on YouTube. Why not get paid for watching videos instead? Through Swagbucks, you can pick a category of videos you like and just binge it. You can literally be paid for watching say trailers for upcoming movies or music videos – something that you might already be doing for free on YouTube. Since it’s a lot easier to watch videos than to fill up surveys, you won’t be getting a lot of SBs but well, it’s still something! Note that there’s a daily SB limit (150 SBs) for videos. Once you reach the cap, you should shelve Swagbucks for tomorrow.

Aside from search engines and videos, there’s another passive option to earn some extra SBs on Swagbucks, that is by installing the SwagButton. It’s basically a browser extension that does a couple of stuff for you so you can maximize your earnings, such as letting you know if you’re visiting an online store that’s on Swagbucks’ list of affiliates so you can switch over to making your purchases on the site or app and get free cashbacks. The extension will also have a minimize option so as to play paid videos on a small corner of your browser as you do something else.

It also lets you redeem Swag Codes directly via your browser without needing to log into your account on the site or the app. These codes work much like gift codes and can be found hidden on Swagbucks’ many social media channels. Since these codes expire within hours or days, you’ll need to check in often so you don’t miss out.

Survey Quality

Completing surveys is probably the best way for you to earn a ton of SBs. Most surveys take 20 mins or so and there’s a matching system which helps reduce the time you spent answering qualifying questions for surveys that you don’t qualify for. However, as fun as doing surveys on Swagbucks can be, they do take a lot more time to complete and cannot be done on the side like having a video playing in the background. There are no invitational surveys as far as we can tell.

Rewards

Unlike many paid survey sites, Swagbucks do not have a minimum redemption amount! This means that you can cash out whenever you like (up to 2 redemptions per day) no matter how much SBs you have.

However, as opposed to sites like InboxDollars, Swagbucks doesn’t really reward you with real cash. Instead, you can redeem your SBs for gift cards from established retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart, iTunes and even PayPal (which may work a lot like digital cash). These redemptions will usually take 10 to 14 days and since the cards aren’t the physical sort, you may need to print them out or use the codes given at the respective retailer’s online store.

Interestingly, Swagbucks often does special gift card promotions where you can get an on-sale gift card for a lot less SBs than usual… the usual being 100 SBs for $1.

The site also has sweepstake contests where you can enter using your hard-earned SBs for a chance to win up to $100 in gift cards. However, these aren’t guaranteed prizes and you may just spend your SBs for nothing. So, if you ask us, we’d advise against putting your SBs into these contests – they are just not that worthwhile and well, SBs are hard enough as it is to earn.

Please take note that many users have reported having their Swagbucks account closed out of the blue and losing thousands of accumulated SBs – the site can be quite understandably touchy about being potentially “gamed” that way. To avoid this from happening to you, it’s best to cash out as often as you can.

Highlights

Swagbucks has one of the best referral programs for a paid survey site and this is why you can often see people posting their referral codes on random forums or their personal blogs in hopes of getting new referrals. This program is an amazing way for you to earn some extra SBs and getting your friends and family on board the Swagbucks train. After all, you can get 10% of all the SBs your referrals make for LIFE!

Conclusion

To sum up, Swagbucks is a legitimate cross-platform paid survey site that is among the top most reliable and renowned sites out there. It doesn’t really pay you in cash, but the gift cards that you can “cash out” in are of the common sort and surely you can find a gift card that you actually can use. The site has plenty of earning methods as well, giving you that nice option of choice, but of course, if you really want to earn a lot, you’ll need to make full use of all the earning opportunities given.
